Abstract

This is about a conversation about intergenerational learning and health. This was linked to a national initiative, Valeo, to create a better vision for healthcare in the United States. The word valeo in Latin means ‘to be able; to have power; to be well, fit and healthy.’ A group of people gathered in 1999 to create, in the words of Jonas Salk, ‘an epidemic of health.’

Peter Whitehouse, MD, Ph.D. is Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Psychology, Nursing, Organizational Behavior, Cognitive Science and History. His main interest is to develop innovative learning environments to promote collective wisdom. He is also director of Adult Learning at The Intergenerational School.
