Inspiring the Best in Student Achievement

Abstract

Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings bring together everyone involved in the education of disabled students and often the students themselves. In an experiment, Appreciative Inquiry was introduced into IEP meetings at two schools. Not only did students speak up and self advocate more, but, because the student’s success became the focus of the meeting, remarks were positive and carried richer information.
